We’ve been out and about in our local area recently with 2 excursions, one to Barkly Square and for a lantern walk down Weston Street.

Fruit & Veggie month at Barkly Square

We visited the fruit and veg departments of a few shops to look at our favourite, and some new, fruits and vegetables. After comparing the cheapest and most expensive fruit & veg, we finished off with a taste test and some hot chips.

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival (which happens in spring in the Southern Hemisphere) is the second most important observance for China and Vietnam (where it is also known as the Children’s Festival).

To celebrate, we made paper plate lanterns and went on a lantern walk. The kids also tried the traditional Moon Cakes – but they weren’t too popular this year; maybe next year!
