The Group Committee supports the Group Leader in the administration of the Group. In particular with respect to finances (revenue and expenditure), property and HR. We need the support of every parent in order to have strong group. There is something that every parent can do that will make a big difference to our group. We have an excellent Group Committee Executive with every officebearer position filled. All parents need to be involved in Group Committee activities in some way. Meetings are nominally scheduled for the second Wednesday in each month 7:30pm, at the hall, 213A Weston Street, Brunswick. Allow 1.5 hours including supper. Please check the online calendar to confirm meetings or call a Committee officebearer. The Group Committee is comprised of parents of Scouts, former Scouts and others interested in the Group and is a mandatory requirement of every Scout Group. It is responsible for Group property, to assist the Group Leader (GL) with finance, public relations and publicity, adult help for the group and the recognition and activities of any body of parents and supporters engaged in undertakings on behalf of the Group or any section of the Group. The GL is s member of the Group Committee. The Group Committee provides the training equipment for all sections, but the longer-term objectives are to provision and maintain accomodation and undertake leader recruitment. The Group Committee comprises office-bearers...
As well there is a District Association delegate who provides liaison between the Group and the District. There are also specialist roles on the Committee including;
The is support and guidance available from multiple sources for every role and no-one is just thrown in the deep and and left to save themselves. To be sure there is a lot of work to do especially when building up a Group from a low membership base and maintaining an old and run-down property, however we are making strong headway and have come a long way in the past couple of years. However there is a long way to go. Participation does require an effort. Parents do do need to make it a priority to be involved. Be assured we will not rope you into particpating beyond your capacity of desire. Also remember that the rewards of being involved have a subtle and important affect on your child and are a direct acknowledgement that you value your child's involvment in Scouting. The organisation and the volunteer leaders put a lot of energy into your children. What can you do in return? |
