Time For A New Patrol Print E-mail
Wednesday, 08 October 2008
Over the last couple of months we have welcomed a few new scouts to our troop. The maximum number of scouts per patrol is 6, so as to leave room for more new scouts it’s time to form a 3rd patrol. This will leave room in all patrols for new members.

Forming a new patrol means appointing a new PL and also a new APL. As over the past few months we have had scouts move up to venturers we have no official PL’s. So it is time to appoint 3 new PL’s and 3 new APL’s. Also we need a name for the new patrol.

All patrols in scouts are named after an animal. There are 28 different animal names to choose from. There is also a patrol badge that matches each animal. The scouts wear this badge on the left sleeve of their scout shirt to show which patrol they belong to.

On Tuesday 7th October the new patrol was formed and the scouts in that patrol discussed what their patrol name would be. The final decision was, Panthers. Also the new PL's and APL's were announced.

I would like to congradulate the following scouts on becoming Patrol Leaders (PL's) and Assistant Patrol Leaders (APL's)

Scorpion Patrol: Daniel, PL and Lloyd, APL

Platypus Patrol: Jasper, PL and Celeste, APL

Panther Patrol: Louis, PL and Liam, APL

If anyone knows of friends that might like to join scouts, ask them to come along. We offer 3 nights at no cost so they can try it out.

(coming soon... more information about the Patrol System)

Boys and girls of Scout age are looking for a sense of achievement.  Scouts gives young people the opportunity to follow their special interests closely, develop personally, and learn special skills in fields such as campcraft, air and water activities and the environment.

Scout membership is open to boys and girls aged between 11 and 15 years.

Scouts meet on Tuesday night at the Scout Hall at 213A Weston Street, Brunswick at 7:00pm.

Scout meetings finish at 9:00pm.

Meetings are not held during school holidays.

Costs involved include:

  • Membership fee
  • $2 per meeting (Subs money - this is used for incidental expenses during the year)
  • Uniform

Nominal amounts to cover costs on occasional camping trips and excursions.

We currently have a Scout troop of about 12 boys and girls.
